Volunteer
for build season.

You don’t have to swing a hammer to be an essential part of our work. We depend heavily on the generous efforts of volunteers outside of construction as well.

Volunteers play a vital role in our mission to make home ownership available to families with limited incomes. From fund-raising to wall-raising, volunteers are involved in every aspect of our work.

Construction

Volunteering on the construction site is a terrific way to really see our mission in action and to experience the fruits of your labor at the end of the day. We welcome a volunteer of any or no skill level as there are many different types of work that you can be trained to do. Our construction sites are open to volunteers on Tuesdays through Saturdays from Memorial Day to late September (approximately).

Jobsite Hours:

Tuesday – Saturday 8:30am – 2:30pm
Mid-May through October (ish)

Location:

67 Durango Ct.

Parking:

Along right side of Durango Ct or on the north side of Hill Cr.

Please avoid parking on both sides of the road so as to not disrupt neighborhood flow of traffic.

Events / Fundraising

We need volunteers for the events, not just the committee!

This committee is responsible for all aspects of raising funds for the organization including individual solicitations, business and corporate solicitations, grant writing and special fundraising events. This is a hands-on committee whose members actively go into the community to raise funds.

Meal Volunteer

Care-A-Vanner Welcome Dinners

Habitat Archuleta is seeking volunteers to cook the main course for our Monday night potlucks!

Care-A-Vanners (CAVs) are traveling volunteers that work on our jobsite and other jobsites across the country for two week periods.

We typically plan for 20 people: Habitat staff, core volunteers, and the families partnering to build that year. We host these potlucks every other Monday throughout the build season, to welcome traveling Habitat Volunteers called Care-A-Vanners.

Dinners are hosted at the pavilion at Mountain Landing RV Park. The setting is geared to more picnic style dining, however, there is power for warming a crock pot.

Meal Volunteer

Jobsite Lunches

The crew gets hungry!

Typically jobsite volunteers provide their own lunches, however, meals are very much appreciated! This gives the volunteer the opportunity to show off their hard work to guests and share what makes them committed to serving through Habitat.

Jobsite attendees vary, with anywhere from 8-20 onsite.

Social Media Management/Website Maintenance

Interested in joining a
committee or the board?

Board of Directors
Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County’s work is overseen by a board of directors who deeply believe that all people deserve a decent place to call home. This is an active board with each member participating on various committees.

Community Outreach (Resource Development Committee)
By joining this committee, you can become part of the work that brings our projects to life, makes them run smoothly and builds support in the community. You will participate in a variety of local events throughout the year to talk about affordable homeownership, volunteering for Habitat, and partnering with our community. We work on strengthening relationships through planning, coordination and implementation of projects in partnership with all areas of the community.

Family Selection
Members of this committee identify the individuals and families who are in need of decent, affordable housing. The committee works through a formal selection process to decide which family(ies) to recommend to the Board of Directors as partners for the upcoming project.

Family Nurturing
Family Nurturers are committed to the development and uplifting of families and communities, not just the construction of houses. They provide support and friendship, help keep the family on track throughout the entire process and offer resources for the family to realize success in their new role as homeowners.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors/Repairs – stay tuned for 2027
Building a wheelchair ramp, painting a house, repairing a porch or steps, patching a roof, doing some inside painting, fixing a window – all of these can make a real difference to our neighbors in need. Necessary home repairs are often left undone when faced with stretching a paycheck, disability check, or Social Security income. In some cases, completing this work is the only way people are able to stay in their homes and remain independent.

Volunteer Recruitment
Habitat is a volunteer-based organization. This committee works with the Volunteer Coordinator and Construction Supervisor to recruit volunteers locally, organize the volunteer schedule and provide opportunities to thank all volunteers. They also plan group build days, coordinate the Care-A-Vanner work crews, seek interested individuals and businesses to provide lunches for the volunteer construction crews.
